Young Chef of the Year 2008
One of the truly aspirational events in the Eat Sheffield calendar is without doubt the 'Young Chef of the Year'. This event is being scheduled to take place in the Summer of 2008. Date TBC.
Each restaurant can nominate up to two people between the ages of 19 - 24 years to enter this competition. In the first instance, they will be required to fill out an application form and return this to Eat Sheffield at the address listed below. Successful applicants will then be asked to paritcipate in an initial cook off to be held at Sheffield Hallam University where they will be tested on their basic skills.

Each application and dishes will be carefully scrutinised before four lucky applicants will be asked to go head to head in a cook off in which they will be required to cook a two course meal within a two hour period. The budget for the two course meal is £20 and this cost or supply of ingredients must be paid for or supplied by your employer/restaurant or if the case may be yourself.

Rules:
Entrants must be between 19 and 24 years and working in a commercial kitchen, whether it be full-time or part-time.

Restaurants may submit up to a maximum of two individual entries per venue.

Entries must be received by Eat Sheffield ASAP.

Judges decision is final at any stage of the competiton and will be adhered to.

Work placement will be unpaid and will be taken at a mutually convenient time to all parties. Please ensure that you and your employer are agreeable to time taken off for the cook-off. You will also be required for publicity and will be invited to attend a presentation ceremony.
