Proposals for Eat Sheffield Awards

The Sheffield Area Restaurant Forum steering group have suggested that we should explore hosting a restaurant awards event.  This would be similar to the one's that operate so well in Leeds, Nottingham and Glasgow.   

Awards Suggestions

After discussion with current forum members the following categories have been proposed and after concideration why not give us your views and contact us with: 'Got a suggestion'

Restaurant of the Year.
Best Restaurant Design.
Best Small Restaurant (under 40 covers).
Best Out of Town Restaurant.
Best Newcomer.
Outstanding Value.
Best Indian Restaurant.
Best Oriental Restaurant .
Most Family Friendly Restaurant.
Outstanding Service Award.
 

Other awards proposals include;

Best Business Lunch Award
Best Young Chef
Best Drinks/Wine List
Best Local Produce Menu
Best Waiter/Waitress
 

Also Proposed

Introducing the Best Waiter/Waitress Award means that front of house will receive their just rewards.  This award will recognise the individuals who work hard to ensure the customer receives the best all-round experience and keeps them returning time after time. Whether these individuals go on to become the best managers of the future or remain being the best waiter or waitress, this position is fundamental to the growth and success of our industry.  

Restaurants will be encouraged to nominate up to two service staff per venue who will then submit an application form on which they will be assessed.  Five finalists will go head to head over a lunch service, in the hope of impressing notable judges, journalists and guests to gain that coveted award.  A delegation of Sheffield Area Restaurateurs will play an active role in the Best Young Chef Award.  These two awards, along with the award for Outstanding Service focuses on talent – young and mature – bringing a cohesive all-round approach to the Awards and one which will have a positive effect on the local industry overall.

 

Proposals for Winners and Nominees

It is proposed that such an awards event would be driven by public interaction and electronic voting.  Once all the votes have been collated, the restaurants receiving the most votes in each of the categories will be put to anonymous judging panels.  These panels will make a final visit to the restaurants and submit their decisions.  The nominees and winners will be announced at a star-studded awards ceremony hosted by local television personality, location to be decided.

 

Judging

Amongst the award evening judges will be some extremely well respected journalists and representatives from the food and dink industry.   01-07-07
