2. SARF Strategic Plan
The apex of this plan is to promote on a local level the broad positive benefits of food sector regeneration, which includes job opportunities, community life, developing local culture, promoting life long learning and a healthy lifestyle.
Vision
- Sheffield Area Restaurant Forum (SARF) improving sector performance, represented by a body of city professionals committed to the ongoing collaborative nurture of our local industry, promoting the highest standards of food, service and diversity.
The Mission
- Sheffield recognised as a high quality food and drink destination for domestic and overseas visitors.

Brief Overview of Key Objectives
- Promote the delivery of the highest standards of food, diversity and service in restaurants, maximising the consistency of each and every dining experience.
- Develop a strong promotions strategy aimed at raising the profile of Sheffield's food offering. This will be achieved through collaboration on marketing, delivering zesty branding aimed at public, business and tourism consumers.
- Develop a schedule of food promotional events that capture the imagination of our region’s foodies and spicy enough to attract visiting tourists to the city.
- Facilitate effective and beneficial communication links between restaurants local and regional government agencies e.g. DMP, SCC, BLSY, Sheffield Tourism, Yorkshire Forward and the Regional Food Group.
- Undertake research projects, which will contribute to the development of the restaurant sector in the Sheffield area.
- Deliver projects that encourage the use of the best fresh local food produce, encourage local supply chains and promote healthy eating in the sector.
- Promote effective links between restaurants and local higher and further education, and other training and development providers.
- Improve access to local food sources and strive to make a suitable reduction of food miles.
- Breaking down barriers and exploring new way's to help assist Black, Ethnic and Minority groups to gain improved access to industry training, jobs and fundamentally important that we assist the regions efforts of improving individuals self-esteem.
- Sheffield is evolving, undergoing constant regeneration and development in the Heart of the City, Castlegate and the New Retail Quarter, bringing Sheffield up to the standards expected of a modern European city. SARF acknowledges the great benefit of city centre regeneration and the spirit of renaissance and will ensure collaboration on all exciting development opportunities. NEXT
