11. Summary

Summary
The food sector in Sheffield is very important to the local economy and the community. We must strike a balance between supporting existing businesses and sustain the continued supply of diverse, quality independent restaurants and this can only be achieved with the support of partners such as Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield City Council, Business Link South Yorkshire, Sheffield College and Yorkshire Forward.  The high level collaboration of these organisations with city restaurateurs and the forum will contribute greatly to determining the long-term success of this sector.

Marketing and promotion, research, training, funding and business grant programs, administration and coordination are key areas of any collaborative opportunity.  The strategy defined within, is intended to build upon and enhance the existing ideas and initiatives put forward by the founding steering committee.  SARF will position all efforts to increase sector visibility and will produce and make available useful information to a whole of industry audience.  We must never lose sight and must all acknowledge that where there is a mutual benefit, improved opportunity and superior outcomes, these can be attained through collaboration.

This strategy provides the partnership platform. It is important to recognise that the intention of this partnership and the resulting strategy is to remain flexible and capable of responding to identified opportunity and mutual need. This strategy should be reviewed and updated regularly, to reflect the evolution and maturity of this great City’s development.   BACK TO RESTAURATEURS PAGE
