The Wortley Arms was originally built as a coach house in 1753 at a cost of 188 Downstairs in The Wortley Arms pub you will find we have retained many of the features that have given this historical building its renowned character including its revolving doors and the solid oak beams. Customers can enjoy themselves in our warm welcoming environment, whilst enjoying a locally brewed ale or some excellent fresh food like our famous Wortley Pie, in front of our wood fire. The upstairs of the building is now the home of Montagu’s. We have named the restaurant after Lady Mary Montagu who as well as being known as a poet and a visionary also enjoyed life and was a great romantic therefore Montagu’s has taken her name and her character! Andy, originally from Sheffield, has 30 years of cooking experience. Supported by Head Chef, Mark Turner who has mastered his skills at high profile establishments Fischers in Baslow, Longueville Manor in Jersey and a year cooking aboard luxury private yachts they make a formidable team fast becoming renowned for their flair and passion.
