Keeping and using natural leavens to produce your own delicious sourdough bread need not be daunting or even complicated.
Mick Saxton bakes a range of sourdough breads in his kitchen to supply bread-lovers in the south-west of Sheffield. Mick is keen to pass on his skills and experience to those wanting to use natural sourdough leavens at home.
Students will spend an enjoyable day either in a one-to-one class (£85) or as part of a small group of two (£160) or three (£240) people. Alongside baking with natural leavens students will also gain an understanding of how leavens can be managed, and recipes developed, to produce bread that suits their tastes.
Classes begin at 9.15am, with introductions over coffee & toast, and close around 3:30pm (lunch included). Students leave with all the bread they've made, a comprehensive recipe hand-out, and a sample of the bakery's own natural leaven.
Mondays, Thursdays, and most Saturdays are available for bookings; please get in touch to arrange to date to suit you.
Sourdough bread-baking weekend breaks in Sheffield (including accommodation and meals) can be arranged, with non-baking partners welcome too!
