Cat Lane Bakery
Cat Lane Bakery was established in 2009 as part of Sheffield Wholefoods Ltd and aims to make first class, organic bread for Sheffield and the surrounding region.
We take traditional techniques, high quality ingredients and , most importantly, time, to produce a wide range of distinctive products, from our crusty whites and wholemeals to continental style campagnes, ciabattas and 100% Rye Sourdoughs.
These traditional techniques of breadmaking require a longer fermentation time than is usually afforded in busy supermarkets, and the resulting bread has a richer taste and good keeping qualities without the use of artificial flour improvers and preservatives. Slow fermentation also allows time for the yeasts and acids in the bread to get to work on the gluten making it easier to digest. We use organically-grown, British, stoneground flours from Mount Pleasant Windmill in Kirton in Lindsey for many of our breads, so we're doing our bit to maintain these important industries, too.
