News and Reviews - White Swan @ Blyth entry into Good Food Guide
Wed 29th Aug 12 White Swan @ Blyth entry into Good Food Guide
We are delighted to announce that we have just been formally notified that we have been awarded a much coveted entry into the Good Food Guide 2013.
This is an amazing achievement considering we have been trading for less than nine months. Many restaurants and pubs work for many years to try and achieve this accolade and very few rarely do.
Having just won the Best Newcomer award in the Great British Pub Awards 2012 Yorkshire, North East and Scotland Region we are overwhelmed and very honoured to have been awarded this position. The White Swan at Blyth will now be listed in the same guide that features the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal and many other great chefs to name but a few.
The Good Food Guide was first published in 1951 by Raymond Postgate. The Good Food Guide currently reports on over 1,200 top establishments and is unique as it is completely rewritten every year and is entirely independent — there is no advertising or sponsorship, no fees are accepted for inclusion, and all of the inspections are anonymous.
Considering there are approximately 1 million restaurants in the UK, to be awarded a place is a fantastic compliment and we would like to thank all of our customers who took the time to write to the good food guide recommending our inclusion.
We would also like to thank Duncan Marsden and Andy Edmonds of Enterprise Inns for their continuing support and a special thanks goes out to all of our team, particularly our Chefs Billy Frost, Dan Renham and Nathan Harrison for all of their hard work and dedication which has put the White Swan at Blyth on the culinary map of one of the most prestigious food guides in Britain.
