Mon 14th May 12 Fischer’s are Finalist at VisitEngland Awards for Excellence
Fischers are delighted to be named as a finalist in the Taste England Category of the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012. As a finalist Fischer's Baslow Hall now goes forward to the glittering Awards Ceremony which is being held on 22 May 2012 at Athena, an art deco gem located in the heart of Leicester’s cultural quarter.
They will have to wait until then to find out which award they will receive. All finalists are guaranteed to receive either a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended Award.
Commenting on the finalists James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said “I would like to congratulate all those nominated as VisitEngland Awards for Excellence finalists this year. This is no small achievement in a year when we have received a record number of submissions. The quality of submissions this year has been outstanding and Fischer's can justifiably take credit and pride in earning a place at the top of their category in England. I wish everyone all the best for the final in May”.
Speaking on behalf of Fischer's, Head Chef Rupert Rowley said “we are absolutely thrilled to be recognised in this national award and achieving a finalist place. Our new Taste of Britain Menu really fits the brief – the main ingredients on this menu are sourced within the borders of the British Isles. Located centrally on the British Isles produce comes from North, South, East and West of the country. Yorkshire Game, Scottish Hand Dived Scallops, Cornish Crab, Coastal Samphire, Thornbridge St. Petersburg Stout flavours one of our breads, Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb and Derbyshire Beef are to name a few. Nearer to home, the chefs pick lettuces and herbs twice daily from the garden at Baslow Hall in the summer months.”
