Wed 25th Jan 12 Owlerton feeds the five thousand...three times over!
December 2011 went down as Owlerton Greyhound Stadium’s busiest ever month, with the kitchen serving up just under 15,000 meals – more than enough to feed a family of four for three years! The bar staff were also kept on their toes with customers drinking more than 30,000 gallons of beverages within the 31 days, enough to fill a swimming pool twice over!
Predictably the turkey dinner was the most popular menu choice, while thirsty customers guzzled their way through over 45,000 pints - and the designated drivers among them managed to put away over 2,000 litres of soft drinks.
Nick Middleton, Head Chef at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium said: “I can barely believe it when I look back, but it goes to show we must be doing something right! As you can imagine the kitchen gets a little bit crazy over the Christmas period, but it’s testament to the great team we have here that we managed to produce that many meals – and still receive compliments to the chef!”
John Gilburn, Managing Director at the Stadium added: “December is always a busy time for us but this year we performed better than ever, which is a great achievement. I couldn’t be prouder of the kitchen and bar staff for getting through what they did, without compromising customer service. Unfortunately they haven’t had much of a rest in January, as the Restaurant has been incredibly busy due to the two meals for the price of one offer which has been available throughout the whole month!”
