Scores on the Doors

If you've ever wondered how clean your local food business is, you can now find out online or via your mobile phone. The Scores on the doors website, publishes the result of our own and other local authority food hygiene inspection ratings.

5 stars is excellent and 0 stars means that major improvements are required. Scores are based on standards of food hygiene management, practices, structure and cleanliness. Businesses who achieve 3 stars and above receive a certificate to display.

The National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme

In 2010, the Food Standards Agency, in partnership with local authorities, plans to roll out a national food hygiene rating scheme for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The scheme will provide consumers with at-a-glance information about hygiene standards in food businesses, to help them to make informed choices about where they buy and eat food.
